TO DO CAFE & SEAFOOD in Tappahannock

Great local restaurant where the wait staff is very friendly and courteous. The homestyle cooking was so delicious and comforting. Look forward to our next travels that take us back to the To-Do-Cafe!!!

Just ate there this evening. The staff are wonderful, wonderful people. Bob, the owner, took our order and spent time chatting. The grilled vegetables are delicious and the crab cakes are very tasty. I had my crab cake Supreme with shrimp, covered in crab bisque. Yum! And the hush puppies are OMGoodness. 🙂

"To-do Cafe needs to do something".Worst meal i have had in a long time. Catfish supreme...a thawed piece flavorless catfish, topped with 4 thawed shrimp, dosed with lots of spices to cover the lack of flavor, provolone cheese and gelatinous flavorless crab bisque...it was unrecognizable as crab bisque. Poured out of a can green beans, scooped out of a tub cole slaw, frozen hush puppies, and bread filled crab cakes. I do not recommend this place. Better to eat at another restaurant.

Slightly pricey, but perfectly cooked seafood. Very friendly staff. Homey, comfortable decor. Everything we ate, from appetizer to dessert, tasted amazing.

Very friendly family owned restaurant! Bob the owner was helpful and the chief brought our food out to us on the front deck. Cold beer and the fish was fresh. If you are in the area and casual dining fits your style To Do Cafe is a must!

Food was delicious and the Service was even better! Home cooked food served by wonderful people. The bbq was good and so was the seafood. They even make their tartar sauce.

The food and service were great. My husband and I were having lunch for our 21st wedding anniversary. We will be returning.

Always good food sometimes the portions very slightly but I feel like sometimes you get alittle extra never get less then you should and pretty fair prices for the food that is served me and my fiance are pretty frequent customers and have never been s factory served a bad me only once had fries slightly over cooked and this was corrected with a extra order are next vist very friendly

I have been eating at to do cafe for years. The food and service are Great. I had great tasting fried catfish and the best onion rings ever. Warm and friendly staff. My favorite restaurant in tappahannock.

My wife and I had lunch here today… It was fantastic! My wife had a crabcake and I had a deluxe crabcake meal with shrimp and crab bisque smothered all over it… Really good! Our server was prompt, funny, and helped to ensure that we had a really good time when we were there. We are definitely returning!

Excellent scallops and soft shell crabs! Side dishes are fresh and tasty too. This was our first visit to the cafe and we will definitely be back!

The absolute worst shrimp ever cooked in any restaurant.. bravo! And service was slow, burgers bland. But the shrimp.... Even my waitress seemed to apologise before we even atebot because she knew how horrible it tastes.

Friendly, outgoing and a local favorite for sure. We've been there several times and everything is tasty and fresh.Love the bisque.

Maureen and I stopped for Lunch. We both had the Fried Scallop Basket with Fries and Hush Puppies. The scallop was excellent as we're the fries! Loved the Hush Puppies, too. As good as any we ever had in New England. We'll be going back soon!

Staff was phenomenal and food was like your Mama's cooking! Small diner style eating area... Clean...We were there after lunch hours and had no problem getting a table.

Good food, really cute on the inside & good service for the lunch we had there.

Best burgers hands down in that area! The Black & Blue cheese burger was perfectly done and the blue cheese didn't over take the burger's flavor. Onion rings were perfect also. Prices were fantastic. The staff treated us like long lost cousins...down home country family. You've got to stop in if traveling through Tappahannok! You won't be disappointed!

Service was fast, friendly and food was great. We had the crab cake & shrimp covered with the bisque plus voice of two sides. Reasonably price... Great choice...

We found this little gem while passing through. It was amazing. Everything is homemade, even down to the tarter and cocktail sauces. Pet friendly on the patio. Staff are very friendly. They even brought the kids ice cream sandwiches on the house. We will definitely stop by again next time we are in Tappahannock, VA.

Fiancé and I rode out Tappahannock from Varina on Saturday sightseeing. Decided to eat a one the local cafés while in town. We were both displeased with the service of To-do cafe. As we sat in this cafe for what felt like more than 20 minutes I’m sure with no menu or a glass of water while fighting flies off the table. After seeing 2 other tables receive refills and desserts we calmly exited without causing a scene.

Super little place with pleasant atmosphere, friendly staff, good prices and food selection. If you like antiques and little shops, definitely stop in the area. I’ll be coming back.

Went in for lunch earlier today with a relative who is a regular, and left already marking my calendar for when I can return. The hostess is wonderful and she is very kind! The chicken salad is one of the best I’ve ever had, and the deserts are spectacular. Everyone who works there is a joy to be around. Thank you!

My husband and I ate here for first time tonight and I can honestly give a 5 star review. Catfish, shrimp, crab cake, cole slaw and all the food we had was Great. Service was great, met the owner Diane and could not have met a nicer person that made us feel welcome. We will definitely be back soon! 😊

First try, LOVED IT!!!!! They deserve 10 stars!!!! Had bite sized crab balls, soft shell crabs special with fries and coleslaw, Key lime pie and Humming pig cake. OMG everything was so good!!!! We loved their cocktail sauce and tartar sauce. Old fashioned hush puppy!!!!!! YUM!!!!!!!! Our server was nice and friendly. Owner Diane is so sweet! Definitely going back soon and will be our favorite!

Stopped by here on a whim. I had crab cakes, fries and cole slaw. Outstanding and better than the well known seafood spot just down the street. The french fries were fresh cut and the sign says all food is home cooked. I recommend you give them a try!

My fiance and I just ate here Saturday...It was the best crab cake I have had at any restaurant we will defiantly be coming back. Everyone was super nice and checked on us and gave us refills when needed...Love Love this place.

My husband and I ran out to get dinner for ourselves and our kids. We got to To-Do-Cafe and we're on the patio looking at the menu when the front door opened and a server invited us inside to make us more comfortable. So we went in and placed our order for meals and then added a beer for each of us that we could drink on the covered patio outside while waiting for food. Prices were extremely reasonable. Staff was friendly and helpful. Interior design was welcoming had a great vibe.Our food was finished before our beers (so fast!) so we lingered on the patio a few minutes longer to finish the beers. Fast forward to our rental house...everyone is so focused on eating that there's actually no conversation at the table. The food was just what we were looking for - seafood options, homemade sides, and delicious food!I definite RECOMMEND trying the To-Do-Cafe for lunch or dinner (the menu listed lunch specials). Service and food taste and quality impressed us and we can't wait to return!

Food was absolutely outstanding. Hush puppies were fantastic, crab bisque was incredible, the oysters were amazing and even the fries were 👌🏼Service was okay, but the quality more than makes up for that and gives it a solid 5 stars

Has bacon wrapped scallops. Delicious!! The waitresses was very sweet.
